Michael Wearing

Michael is the author of How to Reduce Crime and Catch Criminals a book aimed at probationer constables. He is currently writing his autobiography and this will be published later in 2021.

Michael served in the Metropolitan Police for 30 years. Key moments in his career:

Reducing a high crime inner city estate to a zero crime estate for a period of 3 months.

Drugs intelligence officer at Peckham responsible for the first "crack"​ seizures in UK

Involved in high profile and sensitive investigations

Key member of Britain's 1st Safer Neighbourhoods Team, He introduced:-

* street briefings to UK,

* localised surveys as a way of measuring the effect of interventions in relation to anti-social behaviour,

* mobile phones to patrol officers so they were able to stay on patrol for longer.

Michael received many commendations for his work and secured the award of London’s Community Constable of the Year in 2004. In 2005 he was one of 100 individuals recognised by the mayor of London for his ‘Outstanding Contribution to London Life.’

Michael is the Festival Director of the Rob Knox Film Festival, held annually in June. It attracts entries from around the world and at the same time keeps its roots firmly in the community.
