David Charles Barudin is the 2022 winner of the Golden Nib Award for fiction from the Virginia Writers Club, and was a 2020 finalist for the prize. His stories and nonfiction articles have appeared in popular, trade, and literary magazines. "Alternate Routes" is his debut novel. His collection of short stories, which contains the Virginia award-winner, is titled "People Around the Corner and Other Strangers." He holds an MA from the Hollins University Writing Program and a BS in Economics from Penn’s Wharton School of Business. The author and his wife live in Southwest Virginia.
