A Swiss national, Dr. Iwan Dietschi graduated from the prestigious Ecole Hȏtelière de Lausanne and joined The Ritz-Carlton Hotel Company in 1995 in Washington D.C. (USA). He went on to open the first hotel for the company in the Middle East in Dubai, and held positions in Berlin, Egypt, Singapore, Shanghai, Beijing, and Hong Kong, and has been involved in more than 20 hotel openings for Ritz-Carlton and Marriott International, Luxury, on four continents. He managed The Ritz-Carlton Hotel and Residences in Tokyo after the earthquake and tsunami in 2011. Now, with over 25 years with The Ritz-Carlton brand, Iwan Dietschi has risen to the top of his profession and oversees all aspects of the iconic 280-room The Ritz-Carlton in Shenzhen—the “Silicon Valley of China” and next door to Hong Kong—as the Multi-Property Vice President and General Manager, overseeing six other Marriott International hotels in Greater China.
With his superior leadership skills, financial and business acumen, and drive for excellence, Dr. Dietschi took the further step to earn an Executive MBA at California State University and a doctorate from the College of Management and Technology at Walden University. A natural teacher, role model, and constant innovator, he has a passion for mentoring the next generation of hotel and hospitality leaders and is a frequent speaker at business schools, including EHL in Lausanne, CEIBS Business School in Shanghai, EAM Bejing, and Pepperdine University in California.
