The Rev. Herb Palmer, a native of Baltimore, MD., received a Bachelor of Arts degree from Capital University and Master of Divinity from Trinity Lutheran Seminary. He served in pastoral ministry in the ELCA since 1977 in Texas congregations. His last Call was with the ELCA Churchwide Organization serving as a Regional Coordinator in the work of leadership and candidacy for ministry. Since retirement in 2017 he has completed studies in spiritual direction and currently serves in that capacity.
He joined together with the three other authors of Faith Based Organizing around 2011 to partner with congregations to explore faith based organizing in the community to end or reduce poverty. For a number of years he served on the Texas Impact Board.
Rev. Palmer is married to Kathy, and they live in Austin, Texas.
