R.P. Chamberlin (Rosemary) came to Bristol in 1964 to train to be a primary teacher, exactly one hundred years after the opening of the Clifton Suspension Bridge. She left the Freshers’ Ball to walk across the Downs and admire the new lights, hung on the Bridge for the Centenary celebrations and has lived in Bristol almost ever since, the last 19 years in Hotwells.
After college Rosemary married, taught Infants and had two children. While her children were young she studied for a PhD and turned her thesis into a book on educational philosophy which got very respectable reviews but hardly shot up the best seller chart! It did, however, secure her a job doing research at Exeter University where she co-authored several other books, but not about murder.
Rosemary enjoys reading and watching crime stories, possibly because she likes puzzles. She loves Clifton’s bridge and Georgian architecture and knew where her heroine would live long before she knew what was going to happen.
Rosemary lives with her husband John and enjoys (as well as writing) reading, crosswords, cooking, singing, playing the piano, politics, swimming and seeing her grandchildren. She swims in Henleaze Lake even in the winter as for some reason she likes splashing around in freezing water and then driving home with a hot water bottle stuffed up her jumper.
She is now writing the sequel to Murder, Bristol Fashion, another Louisa Grey murder mystery currently called Murder on Avon.
