Worked as a Hoover Dam guide for 17 years (1997-2014), probably started thinking about writing a book about the Dam around 2009 after reading a few books/articles about how to write a book. Threw in a couple of historical periods before the Dam was started (1931), those two periods were a 1905 flood of the Colorado River and 1918 ( America's first battles of WW1 ). Just thought I could weave a story around brothers who loved the same girl and as time marched on took different paths in life, one an engineer and the other a two bit criminal. The story also covers the life-long friends they make along the way and as a bonus I've included an original list of all the states who contributed men, materials/companies who built Hoover Dam in the 1930s, so that should nudge you to buy the book, right?
Served a little over 20 years in the military ( Air Force and Army ), been overseas , seen a few things but working at Hoover Dam and knowing its history, when it was built ( Great Depression in the 1930s ), it is, in my opinion, one of the most truly important and beautiful engineering wonders of the 20th century.
