Michelle Thomson

I am an English teacher, writer and passionate reader! I live in Durban, South Africa, and work as an ESL teacher to Chinese students. Ni Hao! Wo hen hao! I have been teaching English to Chinese students ( Children and Adults) for many years, and have an expert understanding of language learning. I have also worked for many years in the book industry, and in school libraries. Writing books for children, and helping children to learn English, is a passion of mine. I have also studied Psychology, and language development. From my teaching experience, and knowledge of Chinese ( I am learning to speak !) I am able to understand key differences in English language development - from a unique perspective. This helps me to create ESL books that can help students, parents and educators to develop their skills, too.

Reading is not easy for some children - especially when there is so much to see on the Internet. However, reading skills are important and I hope that my books can encourage children to enjoy reading stories, as well as educating them. My children's series of Spook tales is educational, has jokes and fun facts, too.

I enjoy art, and being creative. Many children - from middle school to high school students - have a reading age that is too low. They stop reading, and developing their reading skills. This has a big impact on a child's future, and potential. Reading, like any other skill, can be developed and improved. My books reluctant readers have many illustrations, and are full of fun content.
