Barbara is a retired primary teacher who raised Monarch butterflies in her classroom each year. She discovered that the Monarchs were not only bringing valuable lessons to her students, but to her as well.
When Barbara won a journal on the 12th anniversary of her dear father’s death, words mysteriously began to flow onto the pages. It was as if a butterfly was sitting on her shoulder whispering the words she needed to write.
When she retired in 2012, the Monarch butterfly population was very low and they became even scarcer the following year. Many people began to plant Milkweed (the only food their caterpillars will eat) as well as other native nectar plants for the adults and other pollinators, creating and restoring much needed habitat.
Barbara says that her books would not exist if the Monarchs did not return bringing many enlightening experiences and messages with them. She will be forever indebted to those who are dedicated to making this world a better place for not only humans but for all of nature including butterflies.
During the writing of the second book, numbers became meaningful giving Barbara important lessons and dragonflies visited her in mystical ways.
“When a Butterfly Speaks...Whispered Life Lessons” and “When a Butterfly Speaks 2...Celebrating the Return of the Silent Messengers” are the first two books in this trilogy. Look for the upcoming third book, “When a Butterfly Speaks 3...Connections Beyond Coincidence?”
