Blake Ashby

Blake Ashby is a writer and entrepreneur that lives with his wife Dara (and dogs). He writes the occasional commentary for the St. Louis Post-Dispatch and other publications and is an occasional talk radio guest. Residents of Ferguons, MO, Dara and Blake participated in the Arts & Entertainment program "A Conversation on Race", hosted by John Legend. Blake is the co-founder of the Institute for Urban Capitalism, which has developed an innovative program to teach capitalism to underprivileged youth. Many years ago he was involved in Republican politics, working for candidates for Governor and Congress. Frustrated by the direction of the Republican Party, he ran as a protest candidate in the 2004 Republican President Primary and briefly ran in the 2020 Libertarian Primary. Because somebody needed to stand up for Democratic Capitalism Blake helped prepare the original business plan for SAVVIS Communications, for many years the world’s fastest Internet backbone provider and also oversaw mpXML, a data standards organization for the U.S. meat and poultry industry.
