Rene Bauer

I guess I have always been an adventurous, nomadic type of person. From my childhood on I read about all those adventures, expeditions, sagas and stories. Starting with Jack London and finishing with Jack Kerouac. And anything in between. Then I started going on adventures myself. Met Andrea, my life partner and co-author of the book. Together, we have been exploring Africa since 2008, when we first crossed it from North to South.

I love writing, photography, blacksmithing, swordfighting, ancient history (especially my heritage), traveling, offroad, classic cars...too much to mention here.

Born in ´79 in Eastern Germany, I was happy when the wall came down (not that I could really influence it) because it meant freedom and travelling. And that is basically what I have done since I finished my education (in tourism, of course).

Life is there to be lived. It´s easy to get stuck in anxiety, fear, regret and sadness. One should realize that the most precious thing we have - is LIFE!
