D. Holford

Don Holford was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. He and his wife, Laraine, currently reside in New Jersey. Together they share four children, including Jonathan, Don’s son from his first marriage, and Laraine’s children with her late husband: Joe, Amy, and Peter. They also celebrate five amazing grandchildren, who keep them in step with life’s seasons.

When Don’s not working or writing, you’ll find him golfing, reading historical novels, or running 5K and five-mile races at the Jersey Shore. He is especially proud of having completed the New York City Marathon three times. With the publication of Street Corner Universe, Don has fulfilled a longtime dream of sharing an important time in his life, including the friends with whom he shared it.

A product of New York City’s public school system, including Brooklyn Tech, Don went on to attain multiple master’s degrees and has held senior management positions throughout New York City in both government and nonprofit organizations. He is currently the President and CEO of his own management consulting firm.

Over the years, Don has embraced the life view that if one argues for their limitations, they get to keep them, but if one argues for their possibilities, they get to create them. He has especially enjoyed quality time with his sons, daughter, daughters-in-law, and grandchildren, imparting street corner wisdom on the choice of stickball bats, Spaldeens, and baseball gloves.

Having now told the story of Street Corner Universe, Don is hard at work on its sequel, tentatively titled Street Corner Universe: New Explorations.

Don would love to hear readers’ recollections of their own adolescent adventures. Connect with him on social media, and be sure to check out his website, where you can share fun experiences from your teen years and sign up to receive alerts when the new book is released.
