Derek Burdett

The background to writing The Adventure Toolkit, came from my time developing UK expeditions for World Challenge Expeditions. From conversations with the expedition leaders, I realised that many of them would appreciate a pocket sized reference book to assist in delivering quality activity sessions with groups.

I drew on my years of experience as an outdoor pursuits instructor, expedition leader and coach, along with many discussions with other leaders, to create an easy to use handbook, containing ideas for activities and resources, for times when your mind has gone blank, or to help when planning a new activity.

In the years since, I have met many instructors and leaders who have thanked me for writing the book, and I have used it myself while working as the Senior Outdoor Technician for the University of Derby.
