Toni Eubanks has a long-standing interest in how ethnic groups have shaped this country's history. Her research has included the American West of the 1880's, the Gullah culture of South Carolina, and African American roots in Ghana and Nova Scotia.
Originally from Detroit, MI where her own coming of age experiences took place, Ms. Eubanks moved to New York City and began her work at Girl Scouts of the USA in program development. She developed a broad range of informal education material for girls on self-esteem, values, health and fitness, and diversity; and gained recognition for authoring the first official Girl Scout historical novel, "Octavia's Girl Scout Journey: Savannah 1916" (now out of print).
Toni Eubanks is a Finalist in the 2013 Harvest Book Reading's Featured Book Competition in Phoenix, AZ. She lives with her husband in the desert community of Anthem, AZ, and is an adjunct instructor at South Mountain Community College. She is hard at work on her next historical coming-of-age novel on the experiences of a girl on a South Carolina sea island in the 1930's. Visit Toni's website at www.tonieubanks.com.
