Simon is a Director at Impeller Ventures, a business he has co-founded to pioneer a new approach to innovation.
He believes that innovation is the whole journey to market where the generation of solutions to problems is just as important as the way the are implemented and commercialised. This is summed up in the definition of innovation being ‘ the successful commercialisation of a novel idea’ . His book on the Impeller approach, designed to get organisations to think differently about they way they organise and manage innovation.
Prior to founding Impeller Ventures, Simon has had over 30 years of experience at the intersection of design, technology and business. He has developed brands, products, services, processes and business models for a range of organisations from start-ups, tech transfer and SME’s to corporates and multinationals across a range of geographies and sectors.
Simon is an industrial designer by training, has a Master Degree in Innovation and is a Fellow at the Royal Society of Arts (RSA). He has taught innovation at Masters level as well holding advisory roles on the Tech London Advocates Heath panel, being a judge and mentor on the MassChallenge Uk programme and on the judging panel of Imperial Colleges’ SynbieCITE biotechnology MBA short course.
