Jane Williams

Dr Jane Williams has worked with children and families all her life. She is also a grandparent to five grandchildren under the age of six. Jane began her working life as a Paediatric Nurse and never moved away from the ‘caring and working for children and family’ space. Having completed her PhD in Health Sciences, she lectured in The College of Health Sciences at James Cook University where she continues to hold a position as Adjunct Senior Lecturer. Jane has, for over 35 years, also been closely involved with a leading International parent-child education organisation, GymbaROO-KindyROO, as a teacher, trainer, Research and Education General Manager and most recently as the Managing Director. Focusing on neuro-education and infant development, Dr. Williams has a particular interest in the importance of early development to later learning and life outcomes, strongly advocating for the important role that parents and grandparents play in optimising a child’s opportunities for success. To support families at home, Dr Williams writes informative and practical articles and has co-developed and produced the 12-part online Baby Development and Parent Education Series ‘Active Babies Smart Kids’ (ABSK) that has over 70,000 registered viewers from around the world including Australia, New Zealand, USA, UK and the EU. Dr Williams also has several journal publications aimed at drawing the attention of early childhood professionals to the importance of early childhood development, prevention and early intervention. She lectures extensively and has been an invited speaker at many conferences in Australia, the UK, EU, Singapore, Turkey, Indonesia, Russia and China. She has also delivered conference papers in Canada and, in the USA, at the Movement and Cognition International Conference, Harvard University School of Medicine.
