Sylvia Somerville

My words are seeds, which I plant, in poetry and stories. Hopefully they will blossom, and inspire, encourage, bring laughter and tears. Emotions are a part of our heart and sharing brings color and magic to life. I believe being different is a gift. We must always be ourselves! Believe in out magic and be unique! Never give up your dreams. You can succeed at whatever you aspire to. I want to make a difference. I want to empower others to go forward.

Author, Sylvia M. Somerville was born and raised in Niagara Falls, Ontario, Canada. She has been writing since childhood. She is an Author, Illustrator, Editor and Photographer. Sylvia writes books of inspiration, Encouragement, Poetry, Adventure, and Children's books. She also enjoys creating Crossword Puzzle and Word Search books. She has several different series of Greeting Cards designed using her photographs of wildlife, flowers, nature scenery of forest and water, from everywhere.

Sylvia was owner/publisher of the Chippawa Times, a monthly periodical and worked as editor for Profile Magazine, and Correspondent for the Niagara Falls Review. When her late husband was battling cancer, she gave up her career to nurse him until the angels took him home to Heaven. So now, she is starting over. A new life! A new Chapter! A new and exciting book. She is writing and making a difference by encouraging others to never give up. Work hard and believe in YOU.

She served her community by volunteering in many areas. She served on the Board of Directors of the Niagara Arts Showcase. She is a member of the GNGH Ladies Auxiliary, a former member of the Niagara Falls Canada Day Committee. Sylvia served as President of the Chippawa Business Association, President of the Pilot Club of Niagara Falls and President of the Willoughby Historical Society. Sylvia's passion is writing ,poetry, photography and travel. She enjoyed many South African Safaris. She loves meeting people from other countries and embracing their cultures. cycling, photography and hiking keep her active and blessed with the beauty of nature.
