I am a screenwriter and free-lance writer. I grew up in southern California and hold a Bachelor of Science degree and a Juris Doctorate degree. I am married and live on Cape Cod Massachusetts with my wife and family. My wife and I have seven children, three grandchildren and one black Lab (Sadie). I have always been passionate about writing. My screenplays, "The Smooth Surface" and "Blackbirds" are currently in the process of being optioned for feature films, which is to say I am trying to sell them! This is my first novel. People have asked me about the title of the book. Why did I choose "Beyond the Rainbow"?
A rainbow is a symbol of hope, togetherness, and light. It is a symbol of hope for the marginalized and oppressed. A rainbow represents an arc, a curving trajectory from one point or place to another. In this context, the life of the book's main character, Ethan Richardson, is also an arc; from his life, from past to present, to his daughter's future.
The story represents a contrast to the dull, ordinary and mundane tones of gray, beige and white which consume much of Ethan's life, to the rich and vibrant colors of a rainbow which represent his daughter's future.
There is an adage in baseball that goes something like this: If you think you can play, put down your hot dog, get out of your seat, come down to the field and pick up a glove and a bat. Well, that is what I did. But instead of picking up a bat, I picked up my pen.
