Leila Neti is a scholar of Victorian and postcolonial studies and law and literature. Her work on colonial legal history shows how state and legal formations influence cultural attitudes and notions of self and sovereignty. She has written on the Irish struggles, and various aspects of 19th century and South Asian literary culture, including in the diaspora. Her essays have appeared or are forthcoming in differences: A Journal of Feminist Cultural Studies; Interventions: International Journal of Postcolonial Studies; Law and Literature; Law and Humanities and in various edited collections. She is faculty of English at Occidental College, Los Angeles.
