Jonathan Byrd

BIO

Jonathan Byrd is a husband, father of three daughters, and an eternal optimist; some might even say a Micawber. He is a fifth-generation resident of Biloxi who never imagined living anywhere else. However, after leaving, has never imagined returning. The more of the world he sees, the more he wants to experience. He hails from the hidden jewel of Alabama, Fairhope, but currently resides in Kirchenthumbach, Germany.

He is one of the founding members of Transcendent Authors, and his short stories appear in all their anthologies. His most recent novel, JUST ONE MORE, was a finalist in the 2026 Faulkner-Wisdom Creative Writing Competition, yet remains unpublished. It tells of a joint US/German defense of a castle against the Waffen SS after the suicide before the surrender in the last battle of the European Theater of World War II. An earlier historical fiction novel, SEAFOOD CAPITAL OF THE WORLD, takes place during Prohibition and was shortlisted in the 2021 Faulkner-Wisdom Creative Writing Competition. He also has a completed military thriller for the common soldier, THE ISLAND WAR.

When he isn’t writing, he’s thinking about writing, even if it looks like he’s doing something else—like work. He has an answer for anything, opinion on everything, and is quiet about nothing.
