Donna Haynes is the founder of DMV Mothers Like Me, a local support group that connects suburban mothers of DC, Maryland and Virginia whose lives have been directly impacted by gun violence. She is a Life Coach, specializing in Divorce Recovery to support men and women in rediscovering themselves after divorce and empowering them to find their new norms. Donna is the typical mother of two; an offspring of southern-grown parents, but born and raised as a product of an urban DMV community. She was educated through the Prince George’s County public-school system, earning a Bachelor’s degree in Business and Finance at the oldest Historically Black University in the state of Maryland. The author groomed herself in the dual roles of a career-driven professional and a dedicated homemaker. But while climbing the everchanging ladders of corporate America and Motherhood, she became a divorcee and managed to also juggle the aftermath of a not-so-perfect marriage. And just as she began to settle into a new life, she suddenly found herself thrown in the unexpected role of a caregiver to one of her young adult sons.
