Mar Ricketts is the Principal and founder of GuildWorks: Architecture of the Air, a full-service design-build firm that specializes in tensile fabric structures and environments. He studied Architecture, morphology and geometry, tension structures and tensile structure engineering at Pratt Institute in New York before founding GuildWorks in 1994. Since then, GuildWorks has grown to position itself as an innovative leader in the design, engineering, fabrication and construction of elegant, tensile, fabric structures.
Mar is exceptionally knowledgeable about the unique tensile structure industry niche. He consistently works towards ensuring that GuildWorks Architecture of the Air achieves larger acceptance as a sustainable and viable form of building. Lightweight construction membrane technology is already becoming more functional and being used in wider applications. Advanced architectural fabrics can reduce heat island effects, collect water, filter pollution, regulate temperature and light and provide structures with ample airflow and space.
Recently, Mar has turned his attention toward sustainability and the future of the built environment while ensuring that his client’s visions are realized in the best possible manner.
