Bernard Deacon

I’ve spent a lifetime teaching and writing about Cornwall, its past, its present and sometimes its future. Born in Launceston, on the border with Devon, I grew up in Liskeard in east Cornwall but have lived in west Cornwall at Redruth for the last 40 years or more.

I worked for many years for the Open University teaching adults social sciences and history before becoming a Senior Lecturer at the University of Exeter’s Institute of Cornish Studies, from which I retired in 2011.

I have written and co-written several books on Cornwall and its past as well as numerous articles and book chapters. My full list of publications can be found on my website at https://bernarddeacon.com/ where you can find a blog and various resources for Cornish studies.
