David Smitheram

David Smitheram was born in England in 1977, and is currently the Director of a motorsport organising club. Previously he founded a business filming cars on the race track; filming Fernando Alonso and having his footage shown on TV stations around the world. He qualified as an ARDS race instructor and worked for a Japanese car manufacturer. Since 2003 David has taken part in hundreds of trackdays, races and other competitive motorsport in the UK, Europe and USA, with cars including Corvette, Porsche, Ford Mustang, BMW, Austin Healey, MINI, Lotus and Caterham.

David’s love of cars and racing has led him to submit many articles and photos for printed publications, car clubs and blogs. To date he has written six books, the first was an ‘Essential Buyers Guide BMW Z4: E85 Roadster and E86 Coupe including M and Alpina 2003 to 2009’. Four, illustrated children's books, based on the real life adventures of 'Clive The Corvette' are now available, 'Clive's USA Road Trip', based on a real life journey of buying a Corvette in the US, travelling across the country and shipping it back to England. 'Clive's European Adventure' follows Clive as he gets to know his new home in England, exploring France, Spain and Germany, plus winning two Scottish championships. 'Clive Drives to Africa', sees Clive heading south, to warmer climes and the Sahara Desert, where he gets stuck in the sand and meets Camels. 'Clive To The Arctic!' is the longest road trip to date, 5500 miles north, through 8 countries, to the very north of mainland Europe, well inside the Arctic Circle. 'Essential Buyers Guide Corvette C6' sees 7 years of Corvette C6 ownership, maintenance, photography and experiences around the world condensed into the most comprehensive buyers guide available.
