Who Is This Book For?

If you have found yourself wondering where to look for support and guidance through the menopause, The Wisdoms Of The Menopausal Godmother is a great place to start.

Why Emma Wrote The Wisdoms Of The Menopausal Godmother.

There are lots of misconceptions about menopause. Occasionally, even from doctors. Therefore, having been through the menopause herself and delivering acupuncture to over 1000 women, Emma is in a position to offer tips, advice and support to those in need. Her mission is to change the narrative around menopause and sharing her story has given her a chance to explain what she has been through and will change your perspective on how to thrive during menopause. By sharing stories, and gaining confidence to speak about menopause, the narrative can be changed.

A Bit More About Emma

After spending the past couple of years researching groups that support women going through the menopause, Emma decided to start her own after realising just how many reinforce negative stereotypes. Her goal is to change the narrative. However, not through fairy tales, but by passing on friendly, factual advice that you can rely on and with the help of other godmothers. In 2016, Emma was diagnosed with breast cancer, and after a successful mastectomy and breast reconstruction, she was plunged into surgical menopause. For good measure, every one of the 37 symptoms came rushing at her!

This book is going to help so many people. It is especially good for those of us who cannot take HRT, but all the advice and strategies are also very helpful to use alongside HRT. Dr Annice Mukherjee - Top UK Hormone Specialist

In essence, the book was interesting and very easy to read. Eye opening to me in relation to the acupuncture and full of helpful advice to women who are already on, or about to embark on the physical and emotional hormonal rollercoaster called the menopause. Biography

Emma Guy grew up in Belfast in the 1970s and started her career as a welder, demonstrating at a tender age that she liked to fix things. Since opening her own acupuncture clinic a decade ago, she has become equally adept at fixing people too. The awards received since prove she's good at it, too.

Her debut book, The Wisdoms of the Menopausal Godmother, is an example of how she draws on a deep well of personal experience to help others. At the age of 46, she had a successful mastectomy and reconstructive surgery after being diagnosed with breast cancer. However, she entered menopause earlier than most women as a result.

The book shares knowledge she has gained during her own journey as well as from conversations with others at different stages of theirs. And there have been many of those; indeed, she estimates that as an acupuncturist she has encountered more than a thousand women experiencing a life change. The result is an acupuncture practice - the 'Guy Protocol' - that is proven to treat the symptoms of menopause.

Need evidence? She presents it in black and white. The Menopausal Godmother, conceived during the first lockdown in England of the coronavirus pandemic in 2020, is in part inspired by that success. Her mission is clear; to provide a safe space on the internet where women can seek solidarity and practical advice, while at the same time changing the tone of conversation on a topic still carries more stigma than it should. menopausalgodmother.co.uk / @menogodmum
