As a heart specialist and medical teacher I have written over 120 professional publications for scientific and lay audiences. My interest in science began at age 7 when I was allowed to set up a laboratory in a corner of our very small dining room – in spite of the terrible smells I made. All through life, it has been great fun to talk to children about science – in our home, in schools, in museums, and at the Royal Institution in London. The Marble Curse builds on these experiences and connects with my local surroundings in East Sussex.
