Billy Johnson

Billy Johnson has been a writer all his life, just not paid exclusively for writing until recently. Back-to-back careers as an officer in the United States Navy Medical Service Corps and senior executive in several hospitals required good written communications as an essential part of his job. In his third career, he writes for fun and gets paid for it.

The Southern gentleman lives in Alabama with Linda, his wife and co-author of THE CASSEROLE LADIES, his first published novel. They met as undergraduates at The University of the South in Sewanee, Tennessee. Billy’s Naval career took them all over the country for twenty years and gave him a broad outlook on life that shows in his writing. It also yielded two wonderful children, Jennifer and Craig.

Writing was always part and parcel of Billy’s work. Succinctness and clarity hallmarked his written communications. He proudly claims sole authorship of a variety of articles published in professional journals as well as a Naval Warfare Publication on Fleet Hospitals.

Billy’s medium for expressing himself is fiction. THE CASSEROLE LADIES (published in March 2021) is a 241-page fun read that resurrects the screwball comedy genre. He has two other books in the wings. His second book, targeted for publication in fall of 2021, is a collection of short stories, some humorous and some serious. Still in beta reading, his third book dramatizes conflict between two brothers and their respective countries using the historical fiction genre.
