Jake Cunningham

Jake Cunningham is a writer and producer working in film, TV, audio, digital and print media. He has developed and written documentaries about film and TV for Sky Atlantic, Channel Four, the BBC and Prime Video and he has produced podcasts with Universal, Lionsgate, Sky, Curzon and the British Independent Film Awards. He has written about film for Empire, The I, NME and many publications and he is the co-writer of the Ghibliotheque book series, which have explored animated and East Asian cinema across six different books (and counting). Ghibliotheque is also the name of an independent podcast co-hosted and produced by Jake, along with creative partner Michael Leader, which explores animated filmmaking from across the globe (which began with a focus on Studio Ghibli). Together they curate and host nationwide screenings of animated films, and have shared their passion for the animated form, on the biggest screens possible, with thousands of audience members. Jake’s first short film as writer and producer, Blue Bottle, made with the BFI, premiered at the London Film Festival; and a non-fiction short, created and produced by Jake, will debut in 2025. He lives in London with his wife, son and a small dog.
