Bev Moore Davis

Bev is an award-winning advocate for child abuse prevention. She was placed in foster care and adopted at a young age, and at age 17 escaped a life of severe physical, emotional, and sexual abuse, by jumping through a bedroom window and running away from home.

Originally from Georgetown, a rural community in Newfoundland and Labrador, Bev has been living in St. John's, NL for almost 20 years. She is the founder of the Miles for Smiles Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated to the support, awareness, and prevention of child abuse. Through this organization, she has facilitated awareness events throughout Newfoundland and Labrador, as well as Nova Scotia and Maine, USA.

Bev’s lobbying efforts have been successful in having April proclaimed Child Abuse Prevention Month. She has also partnered with education stakeholders to introduce a child sexual abuse prevention program in schools throughout Newfoundland and Labrador.

Bev has inspired others through her advocacy work in Newfoundland and Labrador. She facilitates a support group for survivors of all forms of child abuse and works with businesses and all levels of government to raise awareness while fighting for change. Bev is a trained facilitator and teaches child sexual abuse prevention.
