Jerry Hope

Jerry Hope was a Scottish writer and musician, born in Edinburgh in 1967. After leaving school he went north to spend two years with the Youth Theatre at Kirkwall, in the Orkney Islands, and afterwards saw Orkney as his spiritual home. Some years later he did a degree at Derby University and was then appointed as an associate lecturer in the English Department there. He completed 'The Machinery of Night' in 2007, a few months before his death from cancer in 2008.
