Grow Old. Ride Fast. Don't Die.
I had been thinking about The Midlife Cyclist for a while. We had been tracking a trend at Cyclefit for over a decade or so, where our clients were both getting older but also training and riding harder - expecting more of both body and bike. But that provokes a fundamental first principles question - what actually happens when you try and race-tune middle-aged individuals using the bicycle as the vehicle of expression? Greater health, life-span and happiness? or injury, illness and disappointment? Nobody knew for sure - The Midlife Cyclist is the first search for answers.
I spend most of my working days helping amateur and professional riders be happier in the saddle achieving their goals - accordingly the Midlife is my accumulated knowledge on the subject. But I was also fortunate to have access to an extended family of cardiologists, team doctors, elite-sports physios and academics.
I hope you enjoy the book. I look forward to meeting out on the road/trail
I have just finished my second book - The Cycling Addiction for Bloomsbury. It will be out very soon in print and as an audiobook.
