Rosie Deedes

Rosie has recently turned her part-time writing hobby into a full-time life-affirming occupation. She lives on the Isle of Wight, and has stunning views of the sea from her conservatory. It is the perfect place for her to write. It gives her great joy as well as a sense of perspective as she looks out on the horizon.

Rosie began her working life as a speech and language therapist in East London, but in 1996 she was ordained priest. In this role she has worked alongside people who are homeless, men and women in prison, students at university, and patients in a hospice.

In her writing Rosie reflects and records the lives and deaths of people she has met. She feels that she is giving them a voice. She also believes that by writing about the things that many of us fear like loss, death, imprisonment, grief, and topics that are generally taboo like suicide, abuse and domestic violence, she can shed a different light on difficult subjects and help people to reflect on their own and other people's situations differently.

Rosie is married to Jonathan. They have three children, who were all home-educated, two of them are now grown-up. They have a cat, two rabbits, and are hoping to add a dog to the household soon. Rosie loves walking, watching the birds in her garden, and reading. Rosie does a lot of local voluntary work including walking dogs with the Cinnamon Trust Charity, she and her youngest daughter do this together. She's also just discovered the delights of winter sea-swimming.
