Mike Stone

Mike Stone was born in 1966, in Staffordshire, England. In 2005, a degenerative eye condition forced him to retire from fulltime work in the pottery industry, since when he has focused on writing speculative fiction. His short stories appeared in ElectricSpec, Triangulation, Tales of Moreauvia, Farthing, and Pseudopod, to name but a few. His work has drawn praise from such esteemed fantasists as Garry Kilworth, John Grant, and the late Graham Joyce.

Mike has also co-edited two crime-themed anthologies, including Requiems for the Departed which received the 2011 Spinetingler award for best anthology.

He is currently working on the Human Blueprint trilogy, coming soon from Busy Lizzie Press.

“One of Mike Stone’s strengths as a writer is his economy of language, which happily appears to be a natural achievement. This sharp, pared prose produces a heady rush of narrative which carries you pleasurably through his stories.”

Garry Kilworth, Winner of the World Fantasy Award

“With its fine depiction of a violently disintegrating personality and its harrowing portrayal of angels that seem born out of nightmare, Lemon Man is one of the strongest, most confident pieces of writing I’ve read in a while, and one that I suspect will prove hard to shake from my mind.”

John Grant, Co-Editor of the Encyclopaedia of Fantasy.

“Mike Stone is a vivid and exuberant writer, and a terrific storyteller!”

Graham Joyce, Winner of the World Fantasy Award.
