Texi Smith

Texi Smith is a rare breed - an Australian author of football fiction. Born a Newcastle United fan in the North East of England and having lived and worked in France in the 1990s, the Australian dream began in 1999 and Sydney has been his home since then. An accredited FIFA, A-League and Football NSW journalist and photographer, writing has become a way of life, and the journey as an author has brought together the love of writing and the love of football. Six published novels and two non-fiction books, he is now an established author with a fast-paced and punchy writing style.

Texi plays Over 45s football and referees in the local winter competition. He is an ardent fan of the Socceroos and Matildas and is a Sydney FC member in Cove Heights. He is quite happy not being the most talented football player in his family, or even the biggest fan.

Away from football, Texi works in IT, loves to snowboard and you should ask him how many marathons he has run now. You would think he'd be fitter than he actually is.
