Elsa Rojas, PhD, PMH-C, received her Ph.D. in Counseling Psychology, a branch of psychology that emphasizes understanding the whole person, including their background and circumstances in order to provide empathetic and effective care. Early in her training she learned how empowering and important the process of pregnancy and birth can be. She also began to understand the many ways the process of creating a family can leave parents feeling anxious, depressed, and traumatized. For over a decade, this knowledge has fueled Dr. Rojas' passion for perinatal mental health and inspired her to further her training in perinatal mental health.
Dr. Rojas' research focuses on trauma, including trauma following childbirth. She is also trained in a number of evidenced based therapies and currently spends much of her time engaged in training others and providing direct care to her clients. She works both in private practice and is also clinical assistant professor at Stanford University Medical School, where she works with teams providing LGBT+ affirming care and supporting individuals in their recovery from trauma.
