Jontae Johnson

I am Jontae! Born and raised in Washington D.C. where my parent's raised me along with my sister and brother. Growing up I was NEVER a studious kid. You could always find me hanging out in the hallways at school, or in class holding a conversation with my peers. So writing a book came as a surprise to my family AND myself! As a child when asked what did I want to be when I grew up I'd always say a Hairdresser and a mother. I attended Suitland High school' cosmetology program where I earned my cosmetology license!

At 19 I got pregnant with my first daughter. This changed my life forever. I always wanted a boy but having a girl was all part of Gods plan. Then at 29 I got pregnant with my second daughter. God sure does have a sense of humor. Outside of my small group of friends, who are also girl moms of children similar in age as mine, From the years of building a solid clientele I now have a great group of women, and men, that trust me with their most intimate thoughts. Scheduled hair appointments feel more like girl talk over wine.

We talk about how we were raised, how that has positively and negatively effected our lives. Then we talk about how we raise our own children, the many different phases our children go thru and how we address them, all the way down to party ideas for birthday and graduations! One thing I realized is that we are all experiencing the same thing and most of us feel like we are going through those growing pain alone.

This is where I found my purpose in writing. Traveling is a hobby of mine, so the idea to write a book was conceived in Jamaica, initiated in Mexico, and the bulk of my writing was done in Costa, Rica. My passion for mothers, with an emphasis on GIRL mom's is organic. My goal is to reach any parent of a girl to provoke an evolution in parenting. I want us to be intentional about giving our girls the attention and knowledge they need to walk in their light instead of the shameful stigma society has created for them. I want the forthcoming generations to achieve the highest levels of self love before they decide to love someone else romantically.

This is my new found purpose.
