DeAndra Dycus is a native to Indianapolis, Indiana. She has her degree in Business Administration. She is a wife, mother of two and bonus mom of three, entrepreneur, dynamic speaker, transformation coach, author and national gun safety advocate.
DeAndra is most known for her gun violence advocacy work, stating that if her son can fight his way back to life, so can she. She has done just that! Ms. Dycus has spoken out against gun violence on several platforms including the Democratic Attorney General Association's National Conference with standouts such as Tish James of New York City. Mrs. Dycus’s work has landed her in speaking engagements alongside Nancy Pelosi and the Honorable John Lewis. She was invited to the White House as a guest of President Obama, to take part in his plans to take executive action on gun safety. She has worked with Congresswoman Lucy McBath and spoken in press conferences with Senator Murphy and Representative Robin Kelly as well many other congressional leaders who are fighting for gun safety. In 2019 DeAndra, alongside Moms Demand Action Founder Shannon Watts, was a part of the first ever Everytown For Gun Safety Presidential Forum where she interviewed several democratic presidential candidates that included Pete Buttigieg.
In 2020 DeAndra had the distinct honor of being the Democratic National Convention’s Gun Violence Speaker. The courageous story of her strength and her son's survival have been seen on CNN and she has been interviewed by the likes of Brook Baldwin and Christi Paul. Their story has also been featured on BET.
DeAndre and DeAndra’s story have been in several national publications including the New York Times, Washington Post, Huffington Post, People, Humanity, Vogue, Time, Ebony, and Essence.
This wife, mother, and entrepreneur has no plans on stopping. Her journey continues as she launches into coaching workshops, and an upcoming podcast called She Has a Word For You! She continues to be a standout businesswoman. Her workshops include advocacy, self-care, and the power behind sharing your story. "My mission is to create a safe space and atmosphere for women who are in need of encouragement, healing, and support because God has given me a special dose of strength to assist and serve women in painful situations. I too have experienced sorrow, pain, and despair but have made it through by faith and resiliency. I want to share what I have learned throughout my journey."
