Mark Barsotti

Originally from Colorado, Mark Barsotti now lives in San Diego, California with his cats, Harlan and Ed. His latest book YAKETY YAK - ROCK'S GREATEST QUOTES SEX, DRUGS & EVERYTHING ELSE explores 70 years of music through the words of its creators. From childhood, fame, fashion and historic moments, to touring life on the road and professional rivalries, from money and the music biz, to the creative process, the craziness and true confessions of superstars and indy acts alike, YAKETY YAK is a "must-read" for popular music fans of all ages.

His novel ADRIFT JUST EAST OF DENVER - a chilling, cautionary tale about "growing up wrong in the 1980s" - has been praised by award-winning author Paul Di Filippo as an ". . . adroitly suspenseful thriller" and by fantasy author Steve Rodgers as ". . . a page turning thriller with sharp, well-crafted prose." His short fiction has appeared in Ellery Queen's Mystery Magazine, Alien Skin and Fade magazine.

ROCK IS DEAD THEY SAY. . . Vol. 1 2ND EDITION is an entertaining, fast-paced romp through rock 'n' roll history, mixing in-depth interviews with rants and reviews from a writer who covered the '90s alt-rock explosion as a critic and now explores rock's meaning - or lack thereof - in the 2020's. The 2ND EDITION features 50 pages of ALL NEW material, including the death of Eddie Van Halen and giving career advice to Warren Zevon in a men's room.

Barsotti's rock writing appeared in Westword, Musician, Request, Livewire, D.J. Times and elsewhere.

He's currently working on Vol. II of ROCK IS DEAD THEY SAY. . . and writing a semi-comic dystopian novel. He hasn't decided if he's pro or con.
