Dylan DAgate

Dylan D’Agate is a sixteen-year-old high school student from Long Island, New York. Growing up surrounded by water, Dylan has always felt a deep connection to it as a precious resource that has given him joy throughout his childhood.

When Dylan learned that his community beaches were closed one summer day because of a Harmful Algal Bloom, he wondered what this “bloom” was that was polluting the ocean, killing fish, and even harming animals. Dylan read as much as possible about these harmful algal blooms and knew he had to do something to “fight back” against this critical environmental problem.

Dylan wrote Monster in the Water: Fighting Back against Harmful Algal Blooms to share his knowledge in hopes of raising awareness and encouraging young people to take action in their local communities and beyond with water pollution and other environmental concerns. This is his debut children’s book.
