Elizabeth White worked in employment-based initial teacher education whilst being employed as a secondary science teacher in Hertfordshire, England. She was in the team that set up the School Direct Programme in the School of Education at the University of Hertfordshire, where she leads teacher educator development in schools and universities through her research, writing and teaching. Her research is focussed around the developing identities and professional learning needs of teacher educators located in their workplace, alongside their learners and those working in partnership with them. She has developed resources For Learning in Teacher Education (FLiTE) and runs a Network of Teacher Educators (NoTE). She co-chairs the Professional Development of Teacher Educators Research and Development Community of the Association for Teacher Education in Europe (ATEE) and has served as secretary of the International Professional Development Association (IPDA).
