Mark A. Thompson is a practicing attorney and has worked in banking, bank regulation and bank legal matters for over 40 years. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with an emphasis on Finance from The University of Iowa and a Juris Doctor from The University of Michigan Law School. During his lifetime, he has lived in 8 states, rented 17 apartments and houses, purchased 7 homes and bought or leased 18 motor vehicles. Based upon his educational training, professional practice and personal experiences, he provides his practical guidance on basic financial decisions and transactions that every consumer will face at some point in his or her life. Concerned about the lack of financial literacy of young people, he was inspired to write this book after answering numerous questions posed by two of his curious nephews, Brewer (age 20) and Dakota (age 21).
