Heather Chase

Having both Autism Spectrum Disorder (formerly known as Asperger's) and having been diagnosed Type 1 Diabetes at the age of 6, Heather has much experience navigating both educational systems and professional settings as someone with disabilities. She is a strong advocate of promoting that a diverse and welcoming workplace and school setting must include neurodiversity.

Having found little in the literature that pertains to adult women on the autism spectrum, and nothing really that spoke to how women with autism live with our disability and adapt, and well as feeling increasingly frustrated about how UNWELCOME both higher education and professional settings are to neuro diverse people, Heather wrote "Why Are The Lights So Loud?".

Heather spent the majority of her youth growing up in Tacoma, Washington, and considers that her home town. She is a graduate of Wheaton College in Norton, Massachusetts, and holds Masters Degrees from both The University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and the University of New England. In addition to writing, Heather works in healthcare informatics. She is now married and lives with her wife and their two children on 27 beautiful acres of Maine woods.
