Jacque Hillman

Jacque Hillman, of Apache Junction, Arizona, is the senior editor and CEO in The HillHelen Group LLC. Formerly from Jackson, Tenn., she received the 2016 West Tennessee Healthcare Foundation’s Jackson Award for the Arts. A top newspaper and magazine writer and editor for over 35 years, now she edits and publishes books for authors nationwide and writes for her clients.

Hillman is a member of the Independent Book Publishers Association, the Historical Novel Society, the National Federation of Press Women, and vice-president of Arizona Professional Writers Association. Former Tennessee Gov. Phil Bredesen chose Hillman to be one of five to receive a Tennessee scholarship for the Delta Leadership Institute Executive Academy, Delta Regional Authority, Class of 2010-2011. She was named a 2014 Sterling Award Winner: 20 Most Influential Women in West Tennessee.

Hillman co-authored “Captain of the Tides: Gunner Morgan,” with Charles D. Morgan, a novel about US Navy hero, Charles “Gunner” Morgan, 1865-1959. The historical novel on Gunner Morgan, “The Man Who Started the Spanish-American War,” received all five-star reviews and won the American Book Fest Legacy Award for military fiction in 2024. The book also won the national bronze medal from the Military Writers Society of America in 2022.

Other winners are: “Footprints on the Mountains: Hiking the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine” by Dr. Dennis Renshaw, American Book Fest Legacy Award in nonfiction inspirational; and “Why Can’t Mother Vote? Joe Hanover and the Unfinished Business of Democracy” by Bill Haltom, American Book Fest Legacy Award for best nonfiction history book design.

“Rescued” by USMC military veteran Andy Vistrand won the 2024 national bronze medal from Military Writers Society of America.

In 2020-2021, the first years of their children’s book division, HillHelen Group Publishers’ children’s book, “Mrs. Mullendeck’s Big Sneeze” by Suzanne Evans, illustrated by David Hansford, won the 2021 national gold medal in the IBPA’s Benjamin Franklin Awards. “Rusty The Wonder Dog” by Jesse Hillman received five-star Readers Favorite reviews and was termed a top pick for children’s book of the decade.

Jacque Hillman served as state president of Business and Professional Women of Tennessee and president of Jackson Area Business and Professional Women. Currently, she is serving as BPWTN vice president and a member of Phoenix BPW. She served on the Tennessee Woman Suffrage Monument board (2016-2021) and co-founded the national award-winning Tennessee Woman Suffrage Heritage Trail.

As a jewelry designer for her company, Reconfigured Art Jewelry, she was featured on the PBS show, “Tennessee Crossroads” and was Tennessee’s Emerging Artist of the Year. She designed 200 limited edition Perfect 36 Society brooches for the Tennessee Woman Suffrage Monument Foundation. She creates custom-designed pieces featuring gemstones in copper, silver and gold.

The HillHelen Group, a Tennessee LLC, is now open in Arizona. Their authors’ works sell internationally in Australia, England, Germany, Japan and Italy.
