Jacque Hillman, of Mesa, Arizona, is senior editor and partner in The HillHelen Group Publishers, based in Tennessee and Arizona, and owner and designer of Reconfigured Art Jewelry. She received the 2016 West Tennessee Healthcare Foundation’s Jackson Award for the Arts.
A top writer and editor for more than 30 years, now she edits and publishes books for authors nationwide. She also ghostwrites for her clients.
Hillman co-authored “Captain of the Tides: Gunner Morgan,” with Charles D. Morgan, a novel about US Navy hero, Charles “Gunner” Morgan, 1865-1959. Gunner Morgan, “The Man Who Started the Spanish-American War,” was buried with full military honors in Somerville, Tennessee in May 1959.
"Captain of the Tides Gunner Morgan" won the Military Writers Society of America national 2022 Bronze Medal in historical fiction. Kirkus Reviews says: “An impeccably researched and engaging tale of an authentic war hero.”
HillHelen Group Publishers' children's book “Mrs. Mullendeck’s Big Sneeze” by Suzanne Evans, illustrated by David Hansford, won the 2021 gold medal in the Independent Book Publishers Association’s Benjamin Franklin Awards. “Rusty The Wonder Dog” by Jesse Hillman, illustrated by Wanda Stanfill, received a five-star review from Readers’ Favorites, and was termed a top pick for children’s book of the decade. Both books are up for national and international awards.
Hillman edited and published the award-winning book, “Why Can’t Mother Vote? Joseph Hanover and the Unfinished Business of Democracy” by Bill Haltom, which reveals the history of Joseph Hanover, a young Polish Jewish immigrant from Memphis, who kept together the votes in the Tennessee legislature needed to pass the Nineteenth Amendment.
Other award -winning books Hillman edited and published include: "Footprints on the Mountain: Hiking the Appalachian Trail from Georgia to Maine by Dennis Renshaw, and "Tilted," a novel by Nancy Hall.
She’s a member of the Independent Book Publishers Association and the Historical Novel Society. She is co-founder of the West Tennessee Artisan Trail for regional artisans and authors.
A graduate of the Delta Leadership Institute Executive Academy of Delta Regional Authority, she was named a 2014 Sterling Award Winner: 20 Most Influential Women in West Tennessee. She’s served as president of Business and Professional Women of Tennessee and president of Jackson Area Business and Professional Women.
She's married to Jesse Hillman, and they have two daughters, Sara Waide-Bowers, Realtor for Coldwell Banker Realty, Chandler, AZ. and Lea Waide, entrepreneur, Phoenix, AZ.
