Douglas Green was born and raised in Kansas City, worked in the film industry in Australia for a number of years, and followed that to Los Angeles where he strived to make it as a writer/director in film and stage, resulting in the critically-acclaimed feature THE HIDING PLACE -- but ended up far happier as a psychotherapist specializing in kids and teens. A few constants over those decades have been his loves of books, movies, music, and dogs, all of which figure into his books THE TEACHINGS OF SHIRELLE and A DOG OF MANY NAMES. He also runs the website ASK SHIRELLE, which offers advice from the point of view of his beloved, late, ridiculous pooch.
