Irena Kobald

Irena Kobald is the author of two children's picture books:

MY TWO BLANKETS; illustrator Freya Blackwood (Little Hare, 2014)

THE DREAM PEDDLER; illustrator Christopher Nielsen (Dirt Lane Press, 2018)

In 2015, MY TWO BLANKETS won the prestigious Children's Book Council of Australia award and was also shortlisted for the P.M. Literary Award.

In 2016, it was the chosen book read Australia-wide during Literacy Week.

Translated into 21 languages, including Braille and Auslan, MY TWO BLANKETS received a favorable review in THE NEW YORK BOOK REVIEW. The story has been adapted as stage plays, musicals and circus events in Europe.

Its world-wide positive impact continues.

Irena is also an accomplished artist.

Her unique bio-art is heavily influenced by the 10 years she spent working in remote regions of the Northern Territory in Australia. The designs and patterns she creates are taken from whatever nature presents at the time. They then return to nature, leaving no ecological footprints.
