C. L. Buchanan grew up in rural Alabama in the 50s, 60s, and in the 70s attended the University of Alabama where he graduated with a Bachelors in Communication, majoring in Public Relations. Mentored by the founding Advertising & Public Relations Department Chair, Col. Arlyn Powell, he also studied Creative Writing under Barry Hannah shortly after Mr. Hannah won the National Book Award for "Geronimo Rex." After graduating, Buchanan worked as a Materials Manager in Saudi Arabia until the 80s when he returned to the U.S., as Global and Strategic Account Sales Manager for companies like Oceonics Pty Ltd, Hitachi Data Systems, and AT&T. After writing "DotLand: The Politics of America," Buchanan is now working on a Young Adult series called The Lightning Jar, and the first book in the series, "The Marassa, a Ninja, and the Voodoo Queen," set in post CIvil War New Orleans, is expected to be out by the years end.
