Tom Aswell

Tom Aswell is an award-winning journalist with more than forty years of investigative reporting experience. His stories have sent people to prison, halted hundreds of thousands of dollars in illegal state payments to its intended recipient, helping to force his retirement from state employment in the process, exposed political theft and malfeasance, uncovered abuses, including deaths of local prison inmates, and revealed abuses at a church-affiliated home for troubled teenage girls in north Louisiana.

The Ruston, Louisiana native’s books include "Louisiana Rocks: The True Genesis of Rock & Roll"; "Bobby Jindal: His Destiny and Obsession"; "Louisiana’s Rogue Sheriffs: A Culture of Corruption"; "Bordello on the Bayou", and "Murder on the Teche: A True Story of Money and A Flawed Investigation". He also has edited books for two other authors: "With Edwards in the Governor’s Mansion", by Forest Hammond-Martin, and "Smuggler’s End: The Life and Death of Barry Seal", by Del Hahn (FBI Ret.).

Aswell is a 1970 graduate of Louisiana Tech University. He has worked for daily newspapers in Ruston, Monroe, Shreveport and Baton Rouge. He and Betty, his wife of more than fifty-two years, reside in Denham Springs with their three dogs. They have three daughters and seven grandchildren.
