Dionisio Jacob

I was born in São Paulo in 1951, and grew up surrounded by books in the Sumaré neighborhood, where, moreover, I still live today. At that time television still took its first steps and my parents were pioneers, adapting texts from literature to be aired, at a time when there was no video tape: it was all live! And that generation wasn't too intimidated by it... They staged Shakespeare, Guimarães Rosa and many other Brazilian and universal classics. That's why they read a lot. These books all, of course, ended up influencing my background. But I also always had a lot of taste for drawing, even going to do College of Arts. Some books I write I like to illustrate myself and in some of them the texts and drawings are born together. I have written for children, adolescents and adults and in recent years I have had the happiness of seeing several works published by various publishers. I also did many television scripts, children's programs such as Castelo Rátimbum, Cocoricó, and several others. Anyway, whether writing, drawing or scripting my work has always been the same: storytelling.
