Kaylon Tran

Kaylon Bruner Tran grew up in Grenada, Mississippi (USA). She attended Delta State University, graduating with B.S. degrees in Biology and Chemistry and a minor in Theatre. After working a few years, she went back to school, earning a PhD in Reproductive Pathology from Vanderbilt University in Nashville, Tennessee. She completed a fellowship at Thomas Jefferson Medical School in Philadelphia and then joined the research faculty at Vanderbilt University Medical Center. Her 25-year career in medical research focused on the generational effects of maternal or paternal toxicant exposures. After hanging up her lab coat in 2025, she returned to her native Mississippi where she balances her time between freelance medical writing and creating fictional stories for mystery and history lovers. Kaylon's first novel, Time Intertwined, received the Literary Titan Gold Award for historical fiction.

Throughout her career, Kaylon has felt a strong desire to connect the lay public with the research community. She has frequently spoken at high schools to share information regarding careers in science as well as with advocacy groups in support of Vietnam Veterans and women with endometriosis.

Fun fact: All of Kaylon's books feature at least one Vietnam Veteran as a character.
