Anne had an amazing childhood in that she learned to read, print, and write (yes, cursive!) before starting school. Bedtime stories were a nighttime ritual, and library visits were as regular as trips to the grocery store. She read constantly in her growing up years and still does! Books are her close friends and companions that are always close at hand.

She is passionate about animals and nature and lets them find their place in the stories she writes. Adventure mysteries and clue-following and solving are always fun! She also writes about fun, random things. Ball fringe and chocolate chip cookies? Sure - why not?

Adult readers can find her work under the author name Anne K. Hawkinson, while A. K. Hicks is reserved for young book enthusiasts. Anne is a member of the Florida Writers Association (FWA), Women's Fiction Writer's Association (WFWA), and Florida Authors and Publishers Association (FAPA).
