LaForce writes and performs comedy. She has written regularly at BUST Magazine, as well as for Marie Claire, McSweeney’s, New York Magazine, and Washington Post. In 2018, LaForce released the BUST and Refinery29-acclaimed humor essay collection Corn-Fed: Cul-de-Sacs, Keg Stands, and Coming of Age in the Midwest.
LaForce holds a PhD in social psychology, and taught doctoral social psychology at Northwestern University’s Feinberg School of Medicine. She was a principal investigator at the University of Chicago.
To distract herself from the dregs of academia, LaForce performs improv/stand-up comedy and skated with the Windy City Rollers roller derby league. She has been writing nonsense and playing villains since childhood.
